COVID COVID COVID?
We know “COVID” is not really a question, but is first on our minds. So let’s address it. The health and safety of you and our community is our main priority. As such we are following national, state, and local guidelines and recommendations during this pandemic. We are limiting the flow in the studio to a few people at a time and those living with them at a time. Occasionally some support staff with the people/ “talent” being photographed are present. We kindly ask that all people conduct a self-assessment and confirm with us before entering the studio that they: are free of covid-19 symptoms; have not been exposed to a covid positive person in the past 4 days. Thank you for continuing to be thoughtful in minding the protocols as we continue to work our way through this pandemic.
Why am I having my photo taken?
As part of a community wide effort to support you and your talent and bring awareness of the great work of the TIDES program, we are preparing a marketing and promotional push and we are grateful that you will be included.
How long will my photo shoot take?
Your photo shoot is scheduled for 60 minutes. This includes time for you to arrive at the studio, get settled, learn more about how the photo shoot will flow, touch-up make-up/hair work, change into any appropriate clothing, and shoot.
What do I wear?
Please bring clothing that you want to wear for your shoot. You should love seeing yourself in these clothes. Happy Valley’s Got Talent has a Hollywood theme this year! If your performance has a Hollywood vibe, then feel free to dress the part. Otherwise, you may wear what you plan on performing in or another cool outfit. michael recommends that attire be clean, in excellent condition and well fitted to you as well as that you bring in at least 2-3 options. michael also recommends solid natural colors, textures and natural fabrics. Please keep away from “branded” clothing that show names of companies, universities, teams etc. Some folks love the idea of a photo shoot for an excuse to update their wardrobe. You can always use this opportunity to treat yourself to a new outfit.
Is hair and makeup provided?
Due to covid no, your session does not include hair and make-up. michael has a strong focus on the face–eyes, lips, skin and hair. It is recommended that you come to the studio with your hair styled the way you want. You will want to bring along any make-up, hair care products, brushes and combs that you use regularly. Because of the range of needs, products are not available in the studio.
Where will my image be used?
Your photos have many uses, including but not limited to web and print promotions. Currently, the intentions are to use your photo leading up to, during, and following HVGT live event April 2nd, as well as during the event. At the very minimum your photo will be stored in the digital library. When needed a photo within the library can be accessible for appropriate purposes.
Who will select the final image to use?
You will get to see your images as they are made. When time allows, michael will show you images as he is shooting. This way together adjustments can be made and on-site soft approval given. michael and the HVGT team will select a final image, typically from the best 10-20 proofs. Final selections are made with many factors including, best overall look, needed position and needed composition.
Can I get copies of the photos?
Yes, of course. michael and HVGT will be in touch with you asap. You will receive a complimentary low res version of the final image used for web and social media purposes. michael will provide an online option to view other proofs and purchase prints or hi-resolution versions of your finished images.
Can I bring my spouse, partner or kids with me to the photo shoot?
Yes, of course whatever makes you most comfortable. We want to make your photo shoot easy and convenient. You may find that the only way you can make it to the studio is with company (your spouse or partner). The studio is comfortable for kids and adults who need to wait during your shoot.
What do I do in case I have to reschedule?
Oh boy. Hopefully we will have 100% participation. Emergencies and bad weather happen. We are also up against a real deadline though and a reschedule may not be possible. In the event that you cannot make your appointment please contact michael as soon as you know. 814.880.2000 cell ph.
Where is BLACK SUN studio?
BLACK SUN studio is located at 700 East Beaver Avenue, State College, PA 16801. It is one block from the campus of Penn State University. Beaver Avenue runs parallel to College Avenue–which runs along the south side of campus.
